About Nicole
I have a degree in Comparative Literature from Fordham University. I am completely fluent in both French and English. As a retired person I have a fairly flexible schedule and I have a passion for reading and writing.
Establishing a comfortable and mildly challenging environment helps the students improve their skills and achieve a sense of accomplishment. Depending on the level of the student I find ways to introduce the subject (in my case English or French) that are not intimidating but yet interesting.
I find that tutoring can be a two-way experience because we learn from our students. As we guide them through the subject we are working on together, we find new avenues to challenge their learning and help them feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of each session.
Listening is a huge component of good teaching. Through good listening you can learn where the student needs help and in turn concentrate on those areas to help them improve.
