About Naomi

I have over five years of experience teaching creative, essay, and expository writing to college, graduate, and PhD students at Columbia University and at NYU Stern School of Business. I received my MFA in Creative Writing from NYU Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where I worked under the guidance of great writers, including Zadie Smith and E.L. Doctorow, and taught creative writing as a fellow.

I can help you get into your dream school! I specialize in helping students excavate and tell their personal narratives in order to gain entry to top-tier universities. I've worked with students in a variety of fields: Law, Medicine, Nursing, the Arts, Social Work, and more. I also tutor in any subject that involves writing.

I enjoy helping students lend a voice to their ideas by focusing on techniques such as motivational and cognitive scaffolding, structure, voice, reading comprehension, grammar, and flow. Students find me easy to connect with!

I have over five years of experience teaching writing and ten years of experience as an editor. I graduated from NYU with an MFA in Creative Writing and have taught essay, creative, and expository writing to undergraduate, Masters, and PhD students at NYU and Columbia University. Prior to this, I worked as a freelance journalist; my work has been published in various publications, including Vice, NYLON, i-D, the Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, and more. I have a wide breadth of experience as a writing instructor and editor and am particularly adept at helping students tell their narrative!

About the lesson

When students (or parents) reach out to me, I set up a short initial session to discuss lesson goals and devise a plan for going forward.
