About Dennis

Dennis Joyce has a Master's Degree in Creative Writing and experience ghostwriting for some of the world's largest financial institutions and their executives.

Dennis is practiced both in the classroom and in one on one settings. For the past year, he's been a college essay coach, helping students successfully get into their reach targets and secure full funding from Top 50 Universities. And while earning his Master's, he has spent time leading Creative Writing workshops in high school classrooms.

Dennis is most familiar with teaching high school students and their reading lists, but he is glad to help students of all ages.

My first teaching experience was for summer school Physics back in 2015. Since then, I've found ways back into teaching settings as often as I can.

I've been a college essay coach, a creative writing workshop leader, and a teacher.

In the professional world, I worked one-on-one with C-level executives at some of the world's largest banks. I coached them on their writing and helped them to express their thoughts.

About the lesson

The first step to any successful relationship is determining goals. Are you writing college essays, studying for the AP, or trying to boost your GPA? A brief introductory call will help in establishing the path forward.

From there, we will hit the ground running. Students nowadays have so many pressures, the last thing they need is extra stress. Sessions will be very goal-oriented, taking on assignments from class or practicing essays.

I am very focused on the individual. As someone who previously struggled with consistency in the classroom, I am intimately aware of the importance of enthusiasm. In our sessions, I will try to find the areas of English which excite the student and draw them out.

I've worked with folks who've failed their courses and need to find their footing, Ivy league hopefuls, neurodivergent individuals, and students who are still unsure about further education. I've run the gamut, though I'm aware that each student brings something new and worthwhile.

English - reading and writing - is about the bigger things in life (even if it doesn't always seem that way). So, find a tutor you feel comfortable having a conversation with.
