About Adam
Hi prospective parent/student! Here’s a bit about myself, I’m currently taking a gap year in NYC before attending Harvard next fall. I’ve lived in France, Spain, England, and the U.S, and I speak and write English, Spanish, and French fluently. I completed the IB Diploma and am glad to offer help on specific IB coursework. In line with my major, I love helping students with a range of writing skills, and likewise will gladly tutor (almost) any physics subject. When it comes to college prep, I have taken the SAT three times and improved my score 110 points along the way. Less than a year ago I applied to over fifteen universities in three different countries. I have a wealth of ideas I want to share regarding everything from college essays to extracurriculars to actually applying to and choosing schools.
Tutoring experience: I have tutored juniors in SAT test taking strategies and skills. I have also tutored Sophomores and Freshmen in a range of Physics and Math subjects. Additionally, I have peer edited many college essays.
Some thoughts: My main goal is to help students become self sufficient. I believe in the value of critical thinking and problem solving over memorization. I try not to fill sessions up with busy work but rather go through problems with my students. I know how overwhelming high school can be, and I want to do as much as possible to wash some of the unnecessary stress off.
I tutored in high school after helping some friends out and truly enjoying the experience. I started mostly helping students in physics and peer editing essays as we applied for college. I find tutoring extremely rewarding as it lets me share what I've learned with others and give students insights that I wish I had known. Recently, I've been advising friends and students on the daunting college application process and how to fit each component in in a thoughtful and authentic way.

I'd like to first schedule a free call or visit to get to know a new student and for them to get to know me. We'll talk more in detail about what exactly they need help in and how I can offer the most with what I know. From there I'll prepare myself and then we can plan a first session. I am pretty flexible with this.
Mostly High School and occassionally Middle School
For those interested in SAT tutoring:
I'm sure you've heard it before, but its truly a pearl of wisdom: the key to scoring well is knowing how to take the SAT. Don't be discouraged by your math scores or your reading scores. I know incredible mathmaticians who have done very poorly on the SAT and vice versa. Before you fall into a PrepScholar course, know there are students out there with fresh SAT test taking skills waiting to be handed off to you.

Adam has helped me greatly with physics, which boosted my test score quite a bit. He has given clear and concise explanations about the concepts and has helped me improve at problem solving. He's also been really kind and patient.
Adam tutored me on the SAT, on which I was struggling mainly with reading comprehension. His approach helped me understand it much better, and overall, I was able to increase my score by 50 points thanks to his sessions.
I employed him to teach my son (14) some math, as well as improve his writing skills. Throughout the three hour session, I could see my son had a lot of fun, and he certainly improved by the end of it. I will definitely employ Adam again. Thank you Adam!
