About Marisa
Hi! My name is Marisa, and I'm a senior premedical student and journalist at Yale University. My blended STEM and humanities background gives me expertise in a broad range of subjects, including biology, chemistry, physics and English, and I would love to help you or your child excel!
A little about me: I have three years of science and admissions essay tutoring experience, and students I mentored have earned admission into top-ranked colleges such as Stanford. I have spent more than three years researching with neuroscience laboratories and gaining clinical work exposure through the Yale School of Medicine. My writing has been featured in outlets such as CNN, Salon, Popular Science, the Columbia Journalism Review, among others. On campus, I am a Yale Journalism Scholar and editor in chief of the Yale Daily News Magazine, where I developed extensive editing, communication and mentoring skills through working one-on-one with writers. In addition, my reporting record demonstrates acumen for producing compelling stories. My story for the Columbia Journalism Review, an esteemed magazine for journalism professionals, topped the publication’s most-popular list and was cited by an academic book on reporting. And at my longest-standing position with the Yale Daily News, I regularly produced and advised top-ranked pieces, including a story that is among the News’ most-read features in its history.
I enjoy seeing my students gain confidence throughout sessions as they learn to tackle problems head on with ease.
