About Martha

I have been in education for 17 years. I have taught grades 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th. I am currently teaching with K12 virtually. I believe that education is not only about being able to pass a test, but an understanding of what is being taught. Every child learns differently. My passion is meeting the individual child on the level they are and going forward from there. Sometimes all it takes is some confidence for a child to soar to new heights. I look forward to getting to know your child and working together to cultivate a love of learning!

I love working with families to see their child learn to love school and reach their maximum potential.

I have been teaching for 17 years. I have taught in the classroom in grades 1st, 2nd, 4th & 5th grades. I have been in the virtual classroom for the past year and a half. I have a wide array of leveled students that I have worked with from SPED to Gifted. I have countless trainings on a variety of educational techniques.

About the lesson

Typically I like to meet with the parent(s)/guardian(s) first to have an understanding of what they are seeing as a skill to work on. Any and all insight they give helps me tremendously. After speaking with them, then I like to meet with the child. I have some questions that I like to ask to understand their feelings about school and learning. I always share things about myself (family, hobbies, favorites, etc). It is very important that the child and parents/guardians fell comfortable with for the process to be successful.

Martha Appleton is an amazing person that took the time to really understand what my child was lacking. My daughter was not enjoying school because she was behind, due to COVID. Mrs. Appleton worked with her to build her confidence and now she loves going to school. She was able to explain to where my daughter understood it. Mrs. Appleton really had a wonderful understanding of working with families and my child. I highly recommend her to anyone. She's also funny. My daughter wishes she could be her "full time" teacher.
