When I begin working with a student, my first priority is clarifying not only that student's needs - whether they need help with general ideas and overarching themes, or with specific details and events - but also their expectations.
When I acted in an advisory capacity for the local Mock Trial team, I taught with advanced high school upperclassmen, including some with developmental disabilities, with whom I worked to develop co-operative strategies to overcome their unique challenges.
