About Sara

I am a reading teacher with many years of experience teaching students of all ages. I specialize in teaching beginning and struggling readers, but have taught students from Kindergarten through high school level in all areas of English and Writing. After our initial meeting and evaluation, I will develop a curriculum to target the needs of your student. This may be working through homework assignments from school or working through targeted activities intended to help your student reach their full potential.

I have my degree in Literacy Education with a Reading Specialist Endorsement.

I love helping students become better readers! I also love it when my students begin to develop a love for reading that can naturally occur with the acquisition of reading ability.

I have always had a passion for Reading that began in elementary school as a reader. I have carried that forward into my professional life as a reading specialist. It is my goal to help all students learn to read and learn to love reading.

I have a Masters in Literacy Education, a Reading Specialist Endorsement, and a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership focusing on Reading.

About the lesson

I meet with students to perform an assessment of overall reading strengths and weaknesses. I then meet with parents to make a recommendation to address the students needs.

I am experienced with Orrin-Gillingham tutoring using the Wilson program. I am a trained Reading Recovery teacher. I also have experience designing curriculum to fit the needs of my students. I believe in using a targeted approach to specifically target the unique needs of each student.
I have also tutored high school students in both Literature and Writing classes. As a high school tutor, I try to help students understand the material on a deeper level. I also help with editing and proofreading student work.
