About Michelle

I am lucky enough to teach a range of children in the 5th grade. I am a Special Education teacher in a full-inclusion school in the Lincoln Public School district. This allows me to work with students who are both general education and special education (with a range of students who have disabilities such as ADD, ADHD, Autism, Behavioral, Emotional, Communication, Specific Learning, etc.). I have also worked with 4th and 6th graders.

I am Wilson Intervention Level 1 certified and believe in the success it brings both children and adults. I have me Shelter English endorsement. My licenses include Elementary Education and Moderate Disabilities. I have my Masters in Literacy from Lesley University and my Bachelors in Child, Family, and Community Studies from Merrimack College.

I look forward to working with you!

In my opinion, there is no better feeling then seeing a child who is struggling with a newly learned concept feel successful and proud of themselves. My ability to help children feel pride in their work is what continues my drive to be a teacher!

While attending college full-time, I also worked full time as a nanny for a family in Andover, MA. They had a 1 year old son when I began working for them. They now have a 7 year old, 5 year old, and a 2 year old. I worked for them for 3 years full-time and I continue to nanny for them during the summer months. I received my Bachelors degree at Merrimack College. I began working at Hanscom AFB as a 5th grade special education teacher. The following year I was offered a 4th grade teacher long-term substitute position for the school year. After the position ended, I continued as tutor for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. A year later, I became the 5th grade Special Education Teacher.

I teach all 5th grade academics (Reading, Writing, Wilson Phonics, Science, Math, Social Studies). My Massachusetts licenses are in Elementary Education (grades 1-6) and Moderate Disabilities (grades 1-8).

About the lesson

My first job is creating trust with my student. I am asking them to take risks in their learning, therefore, establishing a relationship is important to their learning. Through this, I learn their strengths and the struggles, along with their goals. Due to my Special Education background, I am able to learn and adapt my lessons to the different learning styles of each individal student.
