About Katey

If there is one thing I believe in, it's that everyone deserves to learn. No matter your age, background, or lifestyle, it is your right to become confidently educated.

I started my tutoring service because I am extremely passionate about sharing the wonders of English literature with students online, giving them a chance to learn under any circumstances. English is a subject full of skills to be learned, connections to be made, and stories to be told, and it is without a doubt my favorite subject.

Though I have no professional experience tutoring, I have been immersed in the subject of English, having worked and volunteered in libraries, been a member of poetry and book clubs, and served as an aid to my English teachers in school.

I am a college student, working toward my bachelor's degree and education is something I take very seriously. I graduated high school with a 3.94 GPA and currently am holding a GPA of 3.75 entering my sophomore year.

Despite my young age, I have much experience in my subject of choice and would be absolutely thrilled to help anyone looking to better comprehend and enjoy literature, as well as improving essays and creative writing.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I will first ask them some questions to get to know their learning style. I believe that understanding how a student learns best is crucial to help them succeed.
Next, I will ask them why they felt they needed a tutor so that I can develop a lesson plan perfectly tailored to their needs. From there, we will jump right into the area they need help understanding. I believe that clear, direct communication between the tutor and student is absolutely essential to educational development.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think that it is always best for students to really try to get in touch with their educational needs in order to find the right support. I would ask them to consider whether they need a change in teaching style, further clarification on a subject, or a different approach in a topic, because each of these can make a huge difference in learning.

Sonetimes, it can be hard for students to understand what support they need. In this case, I am always available to talk it out with them and help them identify what is blocking their learning!
