About Lorri
I have worked with a wide variety of students in varying subjects. My focus area has a broad range from students with learning diabiliteis to students working to maintain high grades in their AP classes.
I enjoy seeing students overcome hurdles and achieve scores they thought wern't possible prior to tutoring.
I especially enjoy working through challenges and finding alternative ways to learn material when the traditional avenues are not working.
I starting teaching when I decided to homeschool my two children and continued working with other students after mine graduated because I enjoyed it so much.
I home-schooled both of my children from 3rd grade through high school. I was the assistant or lead teacher for several of their co-op classes during these homeschool years. After their graduations, I continued tutoring students. Currently, I have a small group of students that I tutor full time, four days a week, covering all of their subjects including electives.
I have also worked with reading preparation and reading recovery with students K-3.

1. Discuss both short term and long term with parent(s) prior to first meeting with student.
2. At first student meeting, briefly discuss goals to make sure we are all on the same path to success.
3. Generally, the first two meetings involve assessing the student's current level. I use this data to fine tune the plan I have in mind (based upon the goals previously discussed.)
4. Meetings after this initial phase will be a mixture of dedicated work time activites in specific areas to help your student master the subject(s) they are struggling in. I also spend the last 5 minutes of each session playing a game to build confidence. These games generally tie to the subject they are struggling with but can also include brain fitness in general.
i currently have students ranging from those in AP classes to those who have learning disibilities.
My advice would be to discuss both short and long term goals. It is also helpful to discuss your preferred learning style (if you are aware of it).
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are my short term goals?
What are my long term goals?
How much work am I willing to commit to outside of tutoring?

Lorri assesses the needs of the student and then tailors a plan to help the student achieve success, competence, and confidence. Lori is excellent at building rapport with the student, encouraging and motivating students to do their best while instilling in them a love for learning. She has truly been a God-send for our son!
Mrs. Dean has been a wonderful mentor and teacher to my daughters for several years. She goes way above and beyond teaching them acedemics, she also takes a personal interest in their overall health and mentality and adapts her teaching style to what works best for the student. Both of my daughters learn very differently, but both have been able to excel in all of their subjects due to the good curriculum, teaching style and interaction with Mrs. Dean. She was also very instrumental in helping with SAT test prep and scholarship applications. My girls love her and we have been very blessed to have her as part of our lives.
