About Kennedy
Hi! My name is Kennedy and I am a student at Texas Christian University. I grew up in a family of educators and understand the importance of getting outside help in order to excel in the classroom and prepare for college. I have been a tutor for 5 years now and have worked with a variety of kids and have seen them grow and learn in ways that are so rewarding.
I have experience working with students in grades 1- 12. On the elementary level, I can tutor students looking to prepare for state tests, classroom exams, or even students trying to better understand classroom material better in any subject. On the middle school level, I can tutor students looking to better understand english, essay writing, grammar, pre-algebra, algebra 1 and science. On the high school level, I can tutor students in english, essay writing, chemistry and pre-calculus. More specifically, on the high school level, I have 3 years of experience in ACT tutoring through a private ACT tutoring business.

When working with a new student, the first session is about understanding what exactly they need help with and what their level of understanding is on the subject.
During the summer time, when students don't have school mandated work for me to watch them go through, I have my own materials for them to work through so that I can see their thought process and understanding uninterrupted. Obviously, while watching, this is an opportunity for me to answer questions, allowing me to find a pattern of what they specifically need help with. After the first session, I am fully prepared to jump in and help. During the next session, we will start working on specific skills and this provides me an opportunity to teach them new strategies and new ways to work through something that would be more effective for their learning style.
The same process applies for the school year, but if they have their own work they need help with, I start with that and learn their thought process and learning style, and then offer strategies and techniques that could help them.
