About Jessica
As a former magazine editor, journalist, and communications director, and currently working as a freelance writer, I have two decades of experience in creating all kinds of content for many different audiences. From fine-tuning your grammar to structuring big ideas, I can help you write everything from class papers to publishable articles. I'll help you find your own voice and develop your writing ability.
I've wanted to be a writer ever since I was a kid, and now I get paid to do it every day. I choose my words carefully, when I speak and when I write. I truly enjoy working with words and helping other people become better writers too.
I am new to tutoring but an old hand at writing. I look forward to having opportunities to teach!
I spent 5 years as an MSF instructor, teaching people how to ride motorcycles. I consistently demonstrated the patience and temperament required for teaching, even in a high-pressure situation. It also showed me how much I enjoy helping other people learn and develop new skills.

We'll start with a free consultation, to make sure I can meet your tutoring needs. I'll also ask you for a writing sample to get a sense of where your skills are at.
If we're a match, we can work on a specific process or practice some general skills, depending on your immediate needs and concerns.
In my experience, the best teachers listen closely to what you need, work at your pace (not theirs), and keep a good sense of humor. Most importantly, a teacher should spend time learning about you and your needs before telling you what you should do.
