About Mason
Hi! My name is Mason, and I'm a sophomore English major at Ohio University. I graduated from Dublin Coffman High School in 2019.
I plan on going into some level of English education (either high school or higher-ed). I'm a new tutor, but I have a lot of passion for literature, reading, and writing, and I love to help others succeed in and enjoy these subjects! I can especially help with college essay writing and prep for SAT and ACT English testing.
I scored a 5 on AP English Language, a 4 on AP English Literature, a 760 on SAT Reading and Writing, and a 36 on ACT English.
I was also editor-in-chief of Coffman's student newsmagazine, a writer for an independent music journalism website called The Indie Sound, and a reporter for Ohio University's award-winning student-run newspaper, The Post.
English is an incredibly important and interesting subject for two main reasons.
First, communication skills reflect immensely on a person in the world; a well-spoken interview or a well-written application can land the opportunity of a lifetime.
Second, language is one of the best ways we have of communicating our experience artfully, through creative prose and poetry. In many ways, writing is an artful craft on the same level as dance, painting, or composing music. I think that a quality English education can empower somebody to be the best they can be.
