About Roya

Hi! I am currently a homeschool mom to two busy kids and have taught my oldest to read and write stories. We believe in the power of language and reading to open up huge possibilities all throughout childhood and into adulthood.

Together my son and I have figured out ways to make spelling, reading, and writing fun! He was reading and spelling at a 5th grade level in 2nd grade and I would be honored to help your little one get excited about all the possibilities that words can bring into their life! I am happy to create new activities for them, or work on assignments they have been assigned to them l.

I also have experience in common core math and work from home as a professional copywriter and web designer. I have a personal/professional website called latchkeeper.com.

My mom has worked at an elementary school for 30 years and was huge into academics when I was growing up. She taught me to read and write before my 5th birthday and I had a passion for words and story telling for as long as I can remember. I was a nanny growing up for a homeschool family and discovered a great love for teaching children. Watching kids learn something new is such a great joy for me. Now I have two kids and with the pandemic have decided to stay home with them instead of returning to work.

I have a Bachelors degree from the University of California at Berkeley in Psychology and a minor in English. I also was employed as a copywriter and Marketing Manager for Blu Homes and The Grid, as well as many other small businesses.

About the lesson

We start with our own notebook journal so I can track progress, topics and activities we discuss during our sessions. I can bring plans for that days assignments or work with assignments provided by the curriculum that the student is working with.

My typical pricing is based on a per hour basis. $40/hour for private tutoring or $300 for 10 hours, $500 for 20 hours.
