About Paris

I recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Chicago with a double major in Russian Eastern European Studies and Fine Arts. I take an interdisciplinary approach to study and teaching, and I incorporate my students interests into our work to make tutoring a more engaging and meaningful experience. I have extensive experience with literary analysis, general reading comprehension, essay writing, and grammar.

Please feel free to contact me for more information about my experience and qualifications!

I have worked with students from gradeschool to highschool and enjoy helping young people get excited about school!

I have several years of experience working with younger students on a variety of subjects from Fine Arts to English, History, Social Studies and Geography.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where I pursued several interdisciplinary research projects that integrated history, social studies, language, and arts. I also have extensive experience with essay writing and grammar.

About the lesson

I typically spend some the first session or two doing intake on the student's academic strengths and weaknesses, with emphasis on specific areas of future improvement. We will work together to outline some broad goals for tutoring as well as set short and longterm milestones for improvement (such as increased test scores or acceptance to particular universities). Then we get into the weeds of working on the subjects at hand!

Most of my experience is with gradeschool and highschool students in English, History, and Social Studies. I also have experience working with college underclassmen to hone their essay writing skills, working to bring their writing abilities up to the college level.

Look for an instructor who can help you find joy in your studies! I hope to help my students learn to love the subjects they are studying.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I am a goal oriented instructor, students should consider the following:

What are my specific and general goals for tutoring?

Secondly, if a student is struggling with a subject:

What about the subject is challenging to me? What about the subject is uninteresting to me?

Paris is such a natural educator. I asked Paris to work with my daughter on writing/English, and I’ve noticed great improvements in her writing skills. Paris explains concepts with patience and clarity. He has a wonderful command of the English language, and he excels at the levels of both sentence construction and analysis. Through his work with my daughter, he has helped sharpen her writing instincts. He is very professional and truly lovely to work with. I can’t recommend him enough.
