About Jill

Welcome! I have been in education for the past 8 years. I have a Master of Education in Literacy and Specialized Instruction, with concentrations in Special and Elementary Education. I have taught both 1st and 3rd grades, both as a general and special education instructor. I am passionate about providing science based reading interventions, including Wilson and Orton Gillingham programs. Additionally, I will provide a warm and engaging environment for your child to thrive! I look forward to connecting with you.

I have a masters in Special of Education in Literacy and Specialized Instruction with concentrations in Special and Elementary Education. I have been teaching for 8 years. I have experience teaching both struggling and atypical readers. I have worked in both the private and public education sectors as a classroom teacher. My experience and knowledge of the reading curriculum and in-depth knowledge about skills at every reading stage make me an ideal tutor for your child.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I first will assess the student to determine their current level of performance. I will test them on reading fluency, reading comprehension, phonics skills, and vocabulary use and acquisition. After testing, I will create tailored lessons and interventions to directly meet their needs as a reader.

I will also get to know the student, and their learning styles and preferences. I am very passionate about teaching readers, and supporting students in their growth to become life long readers. Because of this, I strongly believe in getting to know the student as an individual and creating a system that works best for them.
