About Lexie

Hello there! My name is Alexa and I am currently finishing my senior year of university; I am studying psychology and plan to pursue a career in research and medicine.

I am currently a tutor at my university's Writing Center, and I have plenty of experience when it comes to academic writing (e.g., philosophy papers, essays for English, chemistry/biology lab reports, APA psychology articles) as well as non-academic writing (e.g., writing short stories, blog/social media posts).

When I am not writing or editing papers, I also work as a commissions artist who is regularly hired to make digital artwork for clients! I have also entered and won scholarships with my art (e.g., competition through DoSomething.org), and have been hired by colleges in the past.

I am very passionate about writing and drawing, and am excited to help you with either/both!

In terms of writing tutoring, I almost have my bachelor's degree, have worked in multiple research roles which have forced me to improve my writing, and currently work for my university as a paid tutor.

In terms of my drawing, I have been recognized for my work by my clients, and through competitions.

About the lesson

My process with working with new students depends entirely on their goals. For example, if a student plans to meet with me once, then I will directly ask them how I can best help them throughout our session; if a student plans to meet with me more than once, then I like to set long-term goals, and to help them work towards it!

I have worked with all types of students, including neurodivergent/disabled students! As someone with ADHD myself, I know it can be challenging to find an instructor who just "gets" you - know that you will never be judged during a session with me!

Go with someone who makes you feel comfortable, and who is patient with you! I am the type of person who asks a lot of questions and asks people to repeat themselves - you should never be made to feel that you are somehow wasting your tutor's time!

I recently met up with a student whom I tutored for writing all last semester (~4 months); she had vastly improved her writing, and she told me about how well she was doing this semester!
