While I was in college, I spent most of my summers as a teaching assistant at a summer youth program in New York City. It was during this time that I realized how fulfilling it is to work with students and help them through their academic journey.

I'm a writer for TIME Magazine and an adjunct faculty member at Columbia University's journalism school. I also have a master's in journalism.

About the lesson

I start by learning about the student. What their study habits are, what their current level is and what their goals are. Then I work directly with the student and figure out how I can best help them.
