About Carly

Hi! My name is Carly and I am currently a student at the University of Tennesse. I am studying business administration with a double concentration in marketing and public administration. Growing up my strong suite has always been english. I enjoy reading and writing more than anything and would love nothing more than to help others develop that same love and appreciation. My goal is to help students enhance their skills and become the best version of themselves. I strive to make genuine relationships with the students I tutor and make them feel comfortable when with me. I want my students to get as much possible out of my time all while enjoying the work they are doing.

I have previously worked with middle and high school students in not only english but math as well. I have a brother who is a freshman in high school and I see how much he benefits from my help. Each and every day it makes me wish that I had an older sibiling that could do the same for me. With that being said, I would love to be that crutch that students rely on to learn and flourish in all academic feilds that I am able to help them with.

My sophmore year of high school is when I realized i have a passion for helping students learn. Nothing is more rewarding than understanding topics and being able to come home and tell your parents you performed well on an assessment or particular classwork or essay. I want my students to be proud of the work they are doing and feel as sense of acomplishment when they do well because school is important and success only creates a yerning for continued success.

I am an excellent student. I finished high school with a 4.2 gpa, honors, and scholarships all while taking a multitude of honors and AP courses. Additionally, I am a freshman in college therefore, I am knowledgable of what exactly instructors are looking for at the high school, middle school, and even elementary school levels in my area. I have worked as a mentor for two years in elementary and middle school classroom settings that have flourished my communication skills and passion for helping others.

About the lesson

I typically approach the first session on a more personal basis. I realize that I am there to do a job, but in the past I have found that building a relationship with the student enhances their trust and willingness to learn. After the first session, it is imparative to build on skills already mastered as well as pick apart exactly where there is room for growth. I like to make short term goals that will in the end combine to great sucess.

I have worked in numerous private and classroom settings with students of all ages from kindergarten to high school. I volunteered at two elementary schools during high school working with students, as well as aiding in inclusion classrooms, and working one on one with high school and middle school students.
