I am a highly experienced public school teacher with over 20 years of full-time teaching in Oakland/Berkeley public schools. I have taught every kind of student from gifted to EL learners to those struggling with reading or writing. I served as Literacy Coach for Berkeley Public Schools, training other teachers in best practices and most effective ELA teaching strategies.
I I am a highly engaging tutor/instructor who designs lessons/sessions that will keep students motivated and allow them to be successful by pacing the tutoring to meet each student's needs. I am equally effective with large groups, small groups or one-to-one settings.

Step 1: Initial Assessment Interview. I learn the student's current levels in reading, writing, etc, and we discuss his/her goals for tutoring. We decide together on a plan for tutoring including key areas to focus on.
Step 2: I design a tutoring plan of 5 sessions focusing on key areas, a trial period so the student can assess how effective the sessions are.
Step 3: Together we plan a longer timeframe of lessons or sessions of 8-10 weeks, with an informal performance assessment at the end of this period.
