About Jessica
My background is in teaching and tutoring students that range from ages 5 through 12 and I also have unofficial experience as a peer tutor in my high school/undergraduate career. I am confident in my English writing and reading support in K-college, and am more than happy to assist students in phonic development or drafting/editing formal essays or speeches in higher education.
My undergraduate degree is in early childhood and family studies and my master's is in elementary teaching. I have also had informal experience in writing tutoring in university, and am confident in my skills tutoring older students in writing and speech.

Typically my first session will be to understand what strengths and challenges my student has in the subject or content area that we are working on. This might look like talking through the material with an older student, or creating a test to understand where the student is at. In terms of writing, it will most likely also include looking at previous work or the current assignment to understand how best to break down the writing parts.
