About Flora

I enjoy teaching students how to read and write/edit their own writing. It is so important to have patience and an open mind when tutoring because every student is different and has their own learning methods. I find it easy to adapt to each student's learning method as I am a flexible tutor.

There are never too many questions a student can ask. I believe in motivating my students and that no matter how many tries it takes, we can always get the problem solved.

I am always happy to assist them in any way that is needed!

I enjoy learning from the student! There is so much that I learn myself when tutoring and it really helps me better understand my teaching methods and how the human brain works. It is so fascinating.

Seattle Public Schools, 2 years tutoring middle school and elementary students on how to comprehend what they are reading. We would track their progress and have the students read aloud to us and explain what they read. If they didn't understand, we would go back and read sentence for sentence what each one meant and find a life comparison to help.

My mother was a preschool teacher for Headstart and I used to assist her with the children in her classroom by teaching the kids about colors, numbers, etc.

About the lesson

The first day I really get to know the student and ask them how they feel comfortable learning. Throughout the next learning sessions I will be able to adjust and learn myself their methods of containing information. I will have lesson plans and each day will be something a little bit different as routine is important as long as there is a bit of change for a challenge!

The first lesson I will only charge $16 an hour for a warm up- after that I will charge $18 per hour because one on one tutoring is personal and requires attention and progress!
