About Amy
I have over 15 years experience teaching at universities and colleges. My time teaching freshman composition helped me gear my teaching to high school students at their educational and developmental stage. I love watching a student have a personal epiphany that causes their learning to blossom. Teaching is my calling and I enjoy assisting students one on one. The depth of my knowledge and teaching make me more than a tutor: I am your private professor. We will make a plan together for your individualized learning with a variety of checkpoints and outcomes.
I enjoy finding new ways to assist my students, particularly when they have decided they "cannot" learn or do something. I enjoy the flexibility of educating and the multitude of learning styles. Watching a student turn a difficulty into a strength motivates me to tutor. The work is hard but the end result cannot be overstated.

Before we start with the actual learning, we will spend some time getting to know each other and thinking about how they learn best. We begin with setting the guidelines for their learning: what outcomes and skills do they want to work on. I will also ask for any course materials from their school, like assignments, readings, and rubrics.
