About Kaitlyn
A lifelong bookworm, a former teaching assistant and essay grader, the eldest sibling, cousin, and best spoken friend of struggling students and STEM professionals alike - I've spent hundreds of hours refining my writing and the writing of those around me. College essay turning into word soup? I'll help you sort it out. Professional PowerPoint increasingly full of jargon and likely to confuse? I can translate. I love words! While we so often desire our actions to speak for us, in this digital, distanced, increasingly professionalized world, our written words and typed communication often define us. The formal voice, the incorporation of appropriate slang when allowed, the negotiation between emotional appeal and straight-forward narrative - it's a nuanced game of balancing what you would like to say with your voice and thoughts and what you must put down in writing.
I've been a teacher all my life! First as the mother-hen of my younger siblings, then as a casual peer-to-peer tutor, then a professional teaching assistant, and most recently as an early childcare educator.
I attended graduate school for two years, and worked as a teaching assistant for both of them. I graded and reviewed the essays of some 300+ people in that time. Prior to that, I wrote for my college newspaper, tutored friends and family, and wrote multiple highly regarded essays in my undergraduate career.
