About Wesley

Hello! I am a recent college grad from the University of Maryland and I want to help YOU succeed. In high school, I took both AP US History and AP Gov in addition to other AP courses. Also, I ran my school's tutoring service so I have experience helping people who are in your boat. I know school can seem pointless or overly challenging sometimes, but I am here to help show you the way!

I am a recent college graduate with extra time after my full time career. Too many video games quickly became boring and now I am looking to help students in my spare time.

My education is at a Baltimore College Preparatory School which helped me ace my AP exams and prepare for the college classroom. That helped me get into and graduate from the University of Maryland with two degrees in 4.5 years. For tutoring specifically, I ran my high school's tutoring program my senior year and helped students of all grades and courses succeed. My tutoring didn't end when I got to college, I often helped other business majors with previous courses I had taken.

About the lesson

First, I try to identify not only WHAT confuses students but WHY as well. When a student doesn't get something on their own, they tend to get frustrated and give up (trust me I've been there). But through talking it through, students often know more than they give themselves credit for. From there, I learn about how my student likes to learn. Not every student is the same, and neither is their learning style. Whether it be visual, audible, or interactive, every student has their way.

I have done tutoring with kids aging from elementary school to college age.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Have I truly given my schoolwork enough time to fully think things through, or have I spent most of the time frustrated because I don't understand something? When I was a student I could "study" for hours but found myself too frustrated to really give the subject a real try.
