About Pranav

Until I got to Berklee, I'd never had any lessons. So I think that gives me a bit of a unique approach to the drums and a somewhat nontraditional understanding of the learning process. I've figured out how to be bad at practicing, and then what it means to be good at it. And I definitely like to do things in a more free way, where you learn more of what you want to learn and when, rather than following a super strict track. And now that I'm at Berklee, I'm surrounded by all these great musicians and master teachers and I'm really excited to share all of that with you.

It was sometime around 7th grade when I fell so in love with music, I never had any other hobbies to tell the class at first day's icebreakers. Soon after, I was drumming on a little blue kit my mom got me on a whim. And it stuck. I was hooked. I loved it. I went for it. There are so many reasons for why (too many to list). But bottom line, it was fun, and so freeing. And it felt like I was a part of something really really cool. This ancient trade that has the power to make people dance and feel things they can't even put into words.

So teaching other people how to do it's a no brainer. I think I've always loved teaching. Anyone who knows me will tell you I can't get enough of explaining things to people--getting them to understand. My friends used to tell me I was gonna be a teacher when I grew up and I never really believed them. But here I am. And teaching drums might be even more fun for me then doing it myself.

I was self-taught until I got to Berklee College of Music, where I've been trained by some of the best and most accoplished musicians and teachers in the world.

About the lesson

We'll figure out where you're at and then I'll come up with a blend of stuff to start working on. Things you want to learn, technique excercises, longer term projects, etc. And then we'll just take it week by week.

I've worked with kids and adult students. Mostly interested in rock, funk, pop and jazz in the beginner-intermediate range.
