About Emma

I am a highschool kid on my way to senior year. I have 7+ experience in the percussion field and being so young I can connect easier to my students. I work closely with them to try to find the best way for students to learn. By the use of modern technology I can find more innovative ways to teach young percussionists.

I love watching young students find a hobby or career that will suit them for the rest of their lives. Helping a student find that spark is one of the most humbling experiences to have as a teacher.

I just found that a lot of kids need something to hold them down. I was and still am a very hyper kid, but playing drums kinds helped me find my ground. I wanted to share my passion with others.

I am in now way a professional. But I have been actively playing percussion for 7+ years. I started in school band in 5th grade and did independent research to advace my skill to make me one of the best percussionist in the highschool band.

About the lesson

When speaking to a new student the first thing I do is ask why they are here, taking these lessons. Essentially what sparked thier interest. Then I get the background information with them and their experience in percussion. From there I show the proper stick grip and how to stand at a snare drum. I go over their weekly tasks and show them the do's and don'ts when handling percussion instruments. From there, we start grooving.

Youngest I have worked with was 10 yrs old and had no experience whatsoever. Oldest is a more experienced person who is trying to advace their skills within marching percussion.
