About Betty
Betty started painting as a youth and continued to paint and take classes while farming with her husband and eventually running her own greenhouse and floral shop. She received formal instruction at Nebraska Wesleyan University, and Southeast Community College in Nebraska plus various workshops over the years. During her life she has applied art principles while working as a landscape designer for 10 years and a florist for 20 years.
Betty's paintings and photoraphy have won awards at the Nebraska State Fair and the Upper Valley Art League of Mission, TX. She has shown her paintings in Arizona, Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska and Texas.
Betty enjoys helping people discover their hidden talent and create great works of art. She is always well prepared and shares her knowledge of painting techniques and concepts while helping with the step by step process. When doing group acrylic paint-alongs, she furnishes all the materials necessary to complete a 9" X 12" painting. Since she teaches in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, her focus is on animals, plants and scenes from that area.
Besides group paint-alongs with acrylic, Betty also teaches beginner oil painting, drawing, perspective, specialized classes on artistic trees, creating texture and landscape composition.
