About Janice

The Art Academy teaches traditional art through drawing and oil painting. We build a strong foundation seeking to provide every student with a mastery of technical skills and understanding of the principles of visual art.

Beginning as well as more advanced students are welcome and will receive individualized instruction. We offer youth classes for students 7-12 and teen/adult classes for ages 13 and older.

After studying under Kevin Murphy at The Art Academy in Raritan, the opportunity came up to teach at The Art Academy in Lebanon. I am excited to share what I have learned with the students of Hunterdon County and surrounding area.

I began my career in fiber arts with a degree in Art and Design from Iowa State University. Working as a fiber artist, I dyed fabrics and made garments and wall hangings. I was in various juried competitions and was recognized in the Surface Design Journal.

I studied under Kevin Murphy at The Art Academy in Raritan for several years and began my career in oil painting.

About the lesson

Each student receives individualized instruction beginning with the first class. We demonstrate and explain everything for the new student so they understand what to do but also understand why. The beauty of The Art Academy program is that we take small steps that build on each other to create amazing paintings.

I have worked with students from 7 years old to retirees of all skill and experience levels.
