About Ben
As a teaching artist with many accomplishments, including grants, publications, and museum commisions, my inspiration comes from renewing the spark others find while exploring art making. Whether you are pursuing a skill for professional reasons or for pure relaxation and enjoyment.
I was a working professiona;l artist and began teaching adults as a means to maintain my studio. I loved working in adult education and later found a similar passion for teaching children while teaching summer camp for four years with my own children as students.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have been teaching, art making and exhibiting for nearly twenty years.

As a k-8 public school art teacher and an adult, continuing education art teacher, I adjust my approach to the needs of my students. The main constant within my method is to find and focus on the strengths and tendencies of my students. I want you to make art like you not me.

I held a fundraiser for the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. I raised money online through painting sales.
