About Adam

With over 20 years of teaching experience in public schools, as well as being a professional artist, students will get a quality, personal learning experience. I am able to work with any level of learner and combine my expertise with their goals to get them where they want to go with their art.

I enjoy all aspects of art- from scheduling time to work on it, to preparing the workspace, to the creative and decision making process, to understanding when the work is done, and ending with displaying and even selling the work. I enjoy every step along the way!

I studied art in college, and teaching children was how I decided to earn a living.

I have 21 years of experience teaching art. I began oil painting when I was 10, and I have been selling my work professionally for several years as well.

About the lesson

I get to know their background, lifestyle, and interests. Then I would find out what has and hasn't worked for them in the past, and where they see themselves going in the future. I like asking questions and listening to people!

Primarily children ages 5-15, but also adult students from time to time.

Look for someone who can help you get to where you want to go! Meaning they have technical skills and are proficient in what you want to learn, but that they also understand your own goals and journey in the process. You want someone who won't just hand you a fish, but teach you how to catch your own, whether it's knowing how to just start creating or even to show and sell and talk about your work.

My daughter and I went to a food-packing event at Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, IL. We worked with a team of volunteers to pack over 18,000 meals in 2 hours to send overseas to children in hunger! It was very fulfilling and uplifting work.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I willing to speak up and ask for help? And am I willing to be honest with my teacher and myself when I am frustrated? Am I willing to stick with something even when it's hard? Am I willing to follow the steps and trust the process?

I charge $40 for a 40 minute Zoom session. In-person rates are $50 for 50 minutes.
