About Norman F

I feel that it is imperative for people to explore and discover new ways to see art. I want to communicate in a way that teaches students new ideas and techniques to improve the ability to entertain and enlighten viewers.

What I aim to do is to deliver the universal message that life is a beautiful thing and students can show it in their artworks, despite the unexpected bumps and twists that occur during life’s journey.

Norman F. Simms, MFA is a member of the national fine arts organizations, Portrait Society of America, The Pastel Society of America, and Oil Painters of America. He is also a member of the local arts organizations, Artsbridge, Artists of Yardley (AOY), and Artists of Bristol (AOB).

He lives in Fairless Hills, PA, teaching group painting and drawing classes as an Instructor at Bucks County Community College, Continuing Education, as well as private art lessons. He has also published two books, "Portrait and Nude Painting & Philosophies", and "Interview between the Jackass and the Artist".

I enjoy people and love art. I am passionate about the world of art and try to share and introduce this to my students. I am an organized planner and enjoy the creative works that are produced by my students.

After I relocated from Washington, DC to Bucks County, PA, I started teaching group lessons and workshops at Artists of Yardley (AOY), as well as private art lessons to students in the area.

I received a Masters of Fine Art from the Academy of Art University in 2012.

I have been an Instructor at Bucks County Community College teaching both drawing and painting classes since 2019.

I was a Grumbacher Art Instructor certified in drawing and painting for Michaels in 2017.

I conducted various workshops classes for Artists of Yardley (AOY), Artists of Bristol (AOB) and Artsbridge from 2013 - 2014.

About the lesson

My process is to teach students the fundamental concepts of drawing and painting fine art and give them assignments and exercises that reinforce these fundamental concepts.

I mainly have been working with adults who are beginner to medium range artists. Some students are looking to have fun creating art. Other students want to become better artists so their artworks can be accepted in upcoming art shows and exhibitions in their areas where they live.

Look at the teacher's academic and teaching credentials, years of experience as an artist, and membership in arts organizations. Look at the types of artworks on the teacher's website. Call and talk to the teacher first, if possible, before hiring the teacher.

I visited Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton Township, New Jersey. It is a 42-acre sculpture park and museum and has over 240 large-scale contemporary sculptures from all over the world. Several of the sculptures in the park inspired my oil paintings, "Stone Faces" and "The King".
