About Jason
Contemporary classical drawings and oil paintings. I have 10 years of classical training experience in drawing and oil painting, and am a versatile artist working with the figure, portraiture, still life, landscape, and narrative compositions that combine all of these genres. I am a versatile artist also interested in blending abstraction and observation. I have taught students in private lessons since 2015 with very positive feedback. I frequently demo, explain concepts clearly through repetition, and cater my instruction to students’ stylistic interests.
We briefly discuss the student's interests and goals artistically, and then typically start with drawing a still life or portrait drawing. Projects are suggested based on the individual student's interests and are typically comprised of still life drawing and painting, drawing and painting portrait or figure from photo reference, drawing and painting master copies, and/or landscape drawing and painting.

BFA, University of North Carolina at Asheville, Painting. 2009-2011, 2016-2019.
Studio Escalier, Argenton-Chateau and Paris, France, 2012-15. Figure drawing and painting and master copies at the Louvre.
JMK Studio Apprenticeship in landscape painting and oil painting craftsmanship, 2012-2016.
Natural Pigments Painting Best Practices Workshop, 2016.
The Fine Arts League of the Carolinas, classical training in figure dawing and anatomy, 2009-2012.
Various workshops studying with Nicholas Raynolds, Rebecca Hawkinson, Ben Long IV, and others.
