About Anna

I am certified to teach Moving for Life-Gentle Aerobics for Symptom Prevention, Autism Movement Therapy, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Heels, and Dance Fitness.

I am an individual that believes movement is not only a form of expression, but also a medium for physical and mental healing. While studying Dance and Kinesiology at Marymount Manhattan College, I had the opportunity to train in various dance techniques, perform professionally throughout New York, and to study Nutrition, Anatomy, Physiology, Somatics, and intern with the dance-exercise non-profit, Moving for Life. Along with my training, I have received certifications in CPR, Autism Movement Therapy, and Moving for Life. With my dance experience and my professional work, I believe I have the desired training, knowledge, and personality required to being an excellent instructor and inspiring others to discover the positive influence of creativity and movement in their own lives.

While interning for the non-profit, Moving for Life, I slowly gained the affinity for teaching. I was required to attend classes in order for full credit, but was also always a lover of taking any dance/fitness class as a student. I figured if I love doing this, then I should pursue it!

I have also had the opportunity to work in various fields relating to administration, customer service, sales, and management. With my dance experience and my professional work, I believe I have the desired training, knowledge, and personality required to being an excellent Dance instructor and inspiring others to discover the positive influence of creativity and movement in their own lives.

About the lesson

The initial meeting is the most important. Communication is key prior to any teaching. I must learn who my student is: What do they want to learn about? Why are they taking class? Asking questions to build comfort, to create a non-judgemental space, and to begin a dialogue is how I begin working with new students.

I have worked mainly with students ages 15-27. However, my broad range of certifications have allowed me to teach people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, etc.

Start a dialogue with your potential instructor. Take a few classes and training sessions prior to making any judgements. be patient with your process and with your instructor!

I recently went to a concert venue where I heard a new music group made up of saxophones, trumpets, drums, and bass! They were playing so loud and so hard that I could not believe my eyes! Everyone in the audience could not stop dancing and smiling and having fun...and that's what I am all about! The pure joy I felt, heard, and saw in that moment was beautiful.
