About Edna

As a dedicated ballet Instructor for over 15 years, I strive to reach my fullest potential as a teacher and focus on Inspiring students to take the discipline and creativity in dance and apply it to their day to day lives. My goal in these private lessons is to create confidence in technique for beginner dancers so that they can move on to the studio!

I started volunteering at my home studio at the age of 12 and helping out the instructor and I absolutely fell in love with having that bond with the students and giving them corrections so that they can grow in their technique at a very young age. At the age of 17 I started my actual teaching job at the YMCA and having my students give small performances as well.

My dancing journey began at the age of 3 in El Paso TX and havnt stopped since then! I've performed with companies such as Ballet Austin Co. and the Russian Nutcracker and have had main performing roles at the University of Texas at El Paso where I worked on my dance degree and trained with the Professors Lisa Smith and Myron Nadel. Teaching has been my passion for years and have had the privilege of working with various dance studios in El Paso and Houston TX which is where I am today.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I always make sure they are here because they WANT to be here. I want their drive, ambition and passion for dance to shine and develop more as I show them inspiring videos, and specifically ask them why they want to learn how to dance. After getting to know the student we proceed to the basics of dance so that they can have a firm foundation from the start do that they can take that confidence to the studio and performances!
