About Jamal
I’m Jamal Shofani , a Health & Fitness Professional | Martial Arts Instructor | Marine Corps Veteran
With over two decades dedicated to strength training since the age of 16, I bring a wealth of experience to the fitness industry. I've been training at Black House MMA since 2010 and received my Black Belt in 2019. As a 2nd degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Instructor, I specialize in martial arts disciplines that promote discipline, resilience, and physical prowess.
My background as a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran instills a commitment to excellence and a structured approach to training. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from California State University, Long Beach, and an MBA from the University of Southern California, equipping me with strong communication skills and business acumen.
I am passionate about empowering individuals to achieve their fitness goals through personalized training programs that blend strength conditioning and martial arts techniques.
I began my teaching journey when I received my Black Belt in BJJ over 4 years ago.
I bring over 11 years of martial arts experience, a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and 7 years of Muay Thai training. I have been in health and fitness since the age of 16, which is over 34 years.

It’s important for me to assess the needs of every student, prior to giving any instruction. Each student learns differently and intends to have a different journey. It’s essential for me to pace the training and engage moving forward on the progress of the student.
I have worked with a variety of demographics, young adult, business professionals, and amateur MMA fighters.
Look for time in role and experience, patience, structure, and a focus on the student.
