About Charles

My classes not only focuses on teaching you the countless recipes from around the world, it also teaches the history and cultural impact these meals have made over time. It is a fun, interactive, yet very informative class for the whole family to enjoy. My goal is to make it easy enough for you to go out and teach someone! Having to learn how to cook at an early age has taught me little nuances that makes teaching so much easy and effective.

What I enjoy most about hosting private culinary classes, is the interpersonal relationships built throughout the class. There is no better place to get to closer to someone than over a hot stove. My classes emphasizes the importance of community and teamwork.

I began teaching, accidentally. During school, I was always the first one to volunteer and my passion for cooking is undeniable. Having family and friends working close, always afforded me the opportunity to help and share any tips I've learned in school.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts from the Louisiana Culinary Institute.

I have worked under many great chefs in several Fine Dining establishments and hotels.

About the lesson

When meeting new students, the first thing I like to do is get a brief history of their culinary experiences.( likes/dislikes, allergies, culinary proficiency)

Next, I explain the importance of safety in the kitchen.

Then we move on to our "Mise En Plase"(gathering and organizing of all ingredients)

I have worked with students of all ages and backgrounds.

My advice would be to keep an open mind, try new things, and accept that sometimes failure happens and is okay as long as it's not the last thing to happen.

Due to my hectic schedule, I do so many private lessons that it is too hard to choose one.
