About Kati
I enjoy helping students achieve things they didn't know they could and helping them to be more musical. I focus on providing positive and honest feedback. Being honest is key to helping an individual improve. I have been teaching clarinet lessons for 3 years and studied the clarinet for five years in college. I also was a marching band woodwind instructor for four marching seasons at Fruitport High School. Additionally, I have a music education degree and am currently certified to teach music to students from kindergarten to 12th grade. I will listen to you play and hold a low note, play a Bb major scale, and play a short excerpt of your choice. This will give me an idea of what you have achieved so far and what we may be able to work on.
I have worked with beginner students as well as well developed high school students. I have also worked with adults who are either picking the clarinet back up or picking it up for the first time. Finally, I have worked with students who have special needs. I enjoy teaching clarinet lessons no matter who the student is.
Meet with the teacher and determine whether or not you feel comfortable working with them. Good questions to ask are, "are they friendly?" and "are they prompt at communicating?"
