About Emily
My English name is Emily Jefferson, and I am a Freelance Chinese/English Translator based in the United States.
I was born and raised in a biracial household in Guangdong, China, I spent 12 years in my motherland and then moved to the United States in 2014 to attend middle school. My life experiences have allowed me to read and write both languages on a native level, and I don't have distinctive accents in either language, this has also allowed me to be familiar with both Chinese and Western culture.
I always had a passion for translations and linguistics, in my spare time I would help other mandarin/English learners with grammar and pronunciations, translate English songs for fun, and research etymologies, language families.
I am driven by the urge to teach people more about my culture and language and to make sure my students enjoy the learning process.
Mandarin Chinese is my native language and I have been speaking it for nearly 2 decades, and I could easily help other people pronounce the correct tones.
