About Richard
I am currently rated around 1900 over the board. I have been teaching on and off since 1977. I play in tournaments when my profession allows me. I was the 2001 United States Amateur Reserve Champion.
I can help players of all levels improve their performance. I emphasize the development of tactical ability. We then develop a methodology to learn openings, positional planning and endgames.
I utilize a planned introduction to chess for beginners and young players. This helps them to familiarize themselves with the use of the pawns and other pieces. We can then transition to learning basic tactics and traps.
