About Walter

I am a Certified Chess Coach. I have successfully learned how to teachChess through the U.S. Chess Federation. I work with and teach students of all ages and skill levels how to get better. The key to learning is the student's willingness to put in the effort and time to study, practice and play My reviews on Wyzant are proof that this way of learning works and works well. There are four main reasons why players don't improve:

!. They don't understand what their weaknesses are.

2. They don't know how to fix their weaknesses.

3. Study habits that don't produce improvement.

4. Problems with visualization. (seeing the board)

I work with students to fix these problems and play better.

I have been playing Chess for over 30 years. I enjoy the game and helping people of all ages learn how to play this great game.

I am constantly finding study materials that will help my students understand and learn better.

Among my other Chess interests, I am a club level tournament director. This knowledge allows me to help guide any student through the process of playing in any level of tournament play.

I have been playing Chess for over forty years. I found that I could share my knowledge with others and improve my own knowledge of the game by teaching. I started on another teaching site and enrolled in formal training with the U.S. Chess Federation.

Registered Certified level 1 Chess Coach with the U.S. Chess Federation.

About the lesson

My first meeting with a new student is free of charge! this meeting is for us to get to know each other and for me to get and idea of the students prior knowledge of the game and the desired goals. This allows me to create a starting point for future lessons.

I work with students ranging from 5years old to 70 years old. This students range from beginners to people who want to improve to people who want to play on tournaments.

You should be advised to take notes. Also the willingness of the tutor to work with the student and help the student grow in knowledge.

Having several students who have improved their knowledge of the game. They have used this knowledge to play successfully in tournaments.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student should not base their deision on the tutor's player rating! A tutor who can play well. may not be able to to teach well or have the patience to work with others. Tutors should be willing to offer a free lesson so that you can see if you get along and you understand their way of teaching.
