After a long successful career in software design I decided to take a retirement offer and moved into teaching Chess which has always been a great goal of mine. I learned from one of the best teachers on how he does it and what are the best methods and I've continued to learn through my experiences and experiences of others

About the lesson

Generally we start with a quick game where I can see in a few short moves what they do and don't know. After that we work on a steady diet of learning the principles and having them play games and having me correct their bad moves and teach him the right way to play

Most of my students have been as young as kindergarten and I've gone all the way through the eighth grade. They tend to be beginners in the early stages of chess but I have also worked with students to have quite a bit of knowledge and I have helped every person that I've worked with to improve their game many have started with and have now very advanced players and may be ready to move on to a really advanced teacher

I would look for a teacher that has a wide knowledge of the game and also has the ability to teach people who don't know the game and has patience that I have and also the skill to continue to make their experience a happy one

I started a group of my students called Dave's young tigers on lichess.org and I've been running a Sunday tournament for those members since the pandemic started in March and we've been running every week since then which is about 40 straight weeks and have a ground to worry I've had almost 100 unique players playing it and Dave's young tigers contains over 100 players right now and continues to grow
