About Joseph
Teaching is an integral part of learning, especially in science. I sought out teaching opportunities during my undergraduate career at Brown University to share my knowledge and passion for chemistry, as well as to solidify my own understanding.

I have served as a teaching assistant for a variety of university courses, from introductory general chemistry to third semester organic chemistry labs. I have served as both a group and private tutor in the context of the above courses, as well as for students in high school chemistry courses.

Chemistry is an unusual subject in that memorization eventually fails. It is important for students to develop a system of knowledge for understanding chemical phenomena. Consequently, earlier lessons will focus on assessing/strengthening this knowledge base. Everyone starts from a different place of understanding, and that's okay!
I have primarily worked with freshman/sophomore college students, but I also have experience tutoring high school students, as well as juniors/seniors.
Tutoring chemistry is difficult. It is important to find a tutor who not only has experience in doing chemistry, but also in teaching chemistry.
Not recent, but excited for an upcoming event - my poster presentation at the Division of Organic Chemistry - National Organic Chemistry Symposium this July!
