About Apolinar

-Student dedicated to learning and to teaching other young students skill and technique on cello.

-Studied at Richland College, now finishing bachelors majoring in Music Education at Texas State University.

-10 years experience on the Cello.

-Have been studying cello under Dr. Rodriguez for 2 years and going.

I haven't formally started teaching, but I am looking to get started for early experience. I am majoring to be a Music Educator in a string orchestra.

I have been studying Music Education for 2 years now, and have been taking cello lessons through my time in school. With taking lessons on different instruments, my professors have taught me to teach while teaching me the instrument. I have 9 years experience playing the cello.

About the lesson

Getting to know the student is one of the first and important things to teaching. Knowing how the student is and what he/she likes is important to effective teaching in the beginning and throughout the course of taking lessons. With beginning students, I'd play something for them and have them ask me any questions, along with have them play something (if any experience).

I have worked with friends that have asked for a "lesson" on cello, and after having a formal lesson for a couple of times they have learned the basics to holding the Cello, along with few other beginners technique.

I would advise a student to look for credibility in a teacher. Many teachers have degrees and years behind playing an instrument, but are not very great teachers. To teach and to play are very different things. A teacher must know what will help a student learn more efficiently rather than just demonstrating him/she playing. Playing to teach is not teaching only demonstrating.
