About Brandon
I was exposed to music from a young age and was always fascinated by strings instruments and the beauty of their sound. I have worked extremely hard for the past seven years of my playing of the cello, so I have developed an emotional connection with the instrument and the sound that it produces. Even with my long experience, I am still seeking to learn because I am still a student myself. Music is empty without knowledge, so I believe that it is my duty to spread knowledge and obtain it myself through collaboration with other musicians and private tutoring. I have invested large amounts of time and energy into music, so it is always on my mind. I love teaching music because I always develop a unique bond with my students because we both struggle to improve his or her skills. Music in general is very rewarding, making all the hard work valuable and special.
I have been playing the cello for seven years, the piano for eight years, and am currently learning the violin. I am currently under the tutelage of Joel Dallow, a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and I have been learning from him for three years. I have also received coaching from other Atlanta Symphony cellists such as Daniel Laufer, Karen Freer, Brad Ritchie, and Dona Vellek. I have been teaching as a private contractor for two years and have been teaching beginner and intermediate students. I can, however, teach advanced students because I believe that all young musicians always have something they can work on, including myself. I practice at least an hour a day because it is essential to not lose your touch with playing an instrument if you want to maintain stability.
