About Bronwyn

I have been playing cello for 20+ years, having earned both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in Cello Performance from some of the nation's top music programs. I love performing, collaborating, and most of all, sharing what I do. If you have a specific interest or goal in mind, I would love to help you come up with a plan to achieve it! And if you don't, not to worry; I can share my tips and routines to help develop your technical skills and a more focused practice just as well!

In addition to cello, I have extensive training in conducting, chamber music, and beginning violin and viola; as well as Alexander Technique and its emphasis on musician wellness and performance injury prevention. Send me a message if you'd like to chat further about any of the above!

I enjoy discovering what kind of role music plays in not just my own life, but those of my colleagues too. In my own personal journey, I realized I was most empowered by chamber and orchestral music, rather than in solo recitals and competitions. I also developed an intrigue in contemporary music and now strive to ensure living composers get their pieces performed on any program I have a say in. It is incredibly rewarding to help someone unveil their path in the music world, whether it be a concert cello career or simply performing a piece for a church service. All are important and valid performance outlets in my teaching philosophy!

About the lesson

I am happy to set up a meeting (in current circumstances, online) free of charge to talk about my lesson process and see if we will work well together. Moving forward, we can choose a recurring time during the week as your set lesson time, but I am typically flexible if plans change and you need to reschedule (I only ask that you give me a 24-hour notice ahead of time). Payment can be weekly upon completion of the lesson; no deposits or monthly payments are required unless formerly discussed.

All ages and skill levels, from age 5 to 65!

Bronwyn is an excellent teacher! I wasn't sure how cello lessons would work on zoom, but she's done a great job evaluating me and demonstrating proper technique. She provides good feedback and suggestions for improvement, and follows up via email with literature to play, fingerings, bow marks, articles and youtube clips . Bronwyn is very professional, is always on time and prepared for our lesson, and is a lovely person to work with. I am a retired music teacher who took up cello for fun, and I highly recommend Bronwyn!
