About Patti

I am a mature, licensed professional and long term entrepreneur with success in varied businesses over a career span of 30+ years. I practiced law for 20 years in NY (operated my own successful practice in business, real estate and estate planning); owned/operated several real estate companies with my husband; managed a healthcare clinic for women in the early 90s; was a licensed Personal Trainer and Yoga teacher, started and ran a successful personal training training/yoga gym/studio in Weston, FL in the last 10 years; obtained my certification to teach Biology 6-12 in Florida schools and worked as a substitute teacher in the BCPS. I am also a happily married mother of three children (2 adults and one high school junior) who have all attended Weston, FL schools.

I have a B.A. from Vassar College in Psychology/Sociology and a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.

After many years and tremendous experience in the private sector, I'm now committed to sharing with and teaching young people from my deep well of knowledge. I'm an avid researcher in health science and endlessly fascinated by the human body and human behavior. Thus, I am keenly interested in tutoring in the subjects of Life Science, Biology, Anatomy/Physiology, Psychology, Sociology and/or Nutrition. Additionally, my lengthy background in Law and business positions me perfectly to tutor in any area of law and all forms of business education. I look forward to working remotely and evenutually in person with local students in middle and high school who need assistance in my areas of expertise.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and teaching students new skills.

As a high school, college and law school student I developed a diverse and effective method of learning new information and skills which I've passed on to my own children and to students I've taught as a substitute.

As an attorney, I had to explain the law to each of my clients in an easy to understand and specific way so that each person understood how his/her factual situation would be affected by the current laws regulating the subject and what the likely outcome(s) of their scenario might be.

As a small business owner/manager I trained employees in various skills acoording to the business requirements. Training is teaching in motion whether it is showing a new front desk clerk how to manage visitors and financial transactions or showing a secretary how to formalize legal documents so they are ready for submission.

As a personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher I have effectively coached and led individuals and groups in learning how to execute movements, build and coordinate training regimens, and how the body and brain learns, and adapts to new movements, exercises and eating plans.

I have loved teaching humans in all these diverse scenarios how to learn, improve and build better versions of themselves at any stage in life. I am at my best when sharing exciting information and breaking it down into easy to understand versions and ensuring, through repetition, that my student understands it well and can execute on his/her own.

I decided to start teaching because I have a vast and diverse array of knowledge and experience from a 30+ year career in various disciplines. Sharing this wealth of knowledge gives me great satisfaction and purpose.

About the lesson

I like to meet with a student informally either by phone (text or regular or Facetime call), email or virtually through Zoom. We spend 15 or 20 minutes getting to know each other to see if we develop a rapport.

If we agree to continue, I will offer a first tutoring session (limited to 30 minutes) for free, again, to establish that we work well together.

If we decide to work together, we will create a schedule and future sessions will be one hour long.

I currently prefer to tutor virtually via Zoom or another agreed upon platform. Once the Weston Public Library reopens, I plan to tutor in-person from there, in addition to continue virtual tutoring for students who prefer online.

If a student is looking for long-term in-person tutoring, s/he should be mindful of my eventual plan to operate in person out of the Weston Public library and be comfortable commuting there.
