About Bonnie

I am a retired healthcare professional and former middle school teacher who is passionate about helping students of all ages. I worked as a Cytotechnologist in hospitals and private laboratories for thirty years, so I have a lot of experience in the biological sciences and anatomy. I have taught and tutored Biology, English, Earth Science, History, and Geography to students in elementary school, middle school, high school, and college.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing a student who is struggling academically realize that they can achieve success through hard work and confidence in their own abilities. My goal is to provide a comfortable, nurturing environment in which students can reach their full potential. I love seeing their excitement and eagerness to learn when they are successful!

When I retired from healthcare, I decided that I really wanted to become a teacher. I minored in Science Education in college, but ended up studying Cytotechnology after graduating with a B.S. in Zoology. I had tutored and done student teaching in college so I did have experience as an educator. My career in healthcare and my experience tutoring allowed me to pursue my dream of teaching.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. I also minored in Science Education in college. In addition, I completed a twelve month certificate program in Cytotechnology. I worked as a Cytotechnologist for thirty years and, after retiring, I taught middle school.

About the lesson

When a new student comes on board, I spend our first session getting to know them and what their needs are in a particular subject area or areas. I feel that it's important to fully understand the student's perspective on their academic progress and how I can help them.

I have worked with students of all ages-from elementary school to college and even with adults. I try to meet my students where they are with no preconceived notions about their capabilities. I realize that there are many different types of learners and I work hard to tailor my lessons to individual needs.

I charge $35 per hour for in-person tutoring.
For online tutoring, I charge $30 per hour.

I don't charge a fee for the first (get acquainted) session.
