About Kristian
A recent college graduate with a degree in Biology, I am committed to helping my students understand their content. Even when the subject matter is complex, I seek to cultivate curiosity and wonder. The world is a strange place, and the study of its strange beings doesn't have to be a bore. A few things to know about me:
- I graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, with a bachelor's in Biology.
- I pursued a teaching license as part of a master's program at the University of Mary. I am currently one class away from my license.
- I have substitute taught in a wide variety of settings, from 1st grade to 12th grade, ranging from single-day assignments to a 2-month long-term job (which required writing lesson plans and teaching content).
- I completed a 12-week student teaching experience in a 7th-grade Life Science classroom. Responsibilities included writing and executing lesson plans that were accesible to all students, accommodating different learning styles and abilities.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns at either of the following:

I enjoy inspiring others to be passionate about science. Sometimes all it takes is a little perspective shift to truly appreciate the study of the natural world, and that's a shift I've experienced myself.
I have extensive training in Biology and Education, with a Bachelor's in Biology from Concordia College (Moorhead) and a teaching license through the University of Mary (Bismarck). I have multiple practicum experiences under my belt, as well as a 12-week student teaching experence in 7th-grade Life Science.

My plan with new students is as follows:
- Get to know a little about the student: interests, hobbies, dream job. Share a little about myself.
- Inquire on what subjects the student would like support with and how they like to learn. Are they a visual learner? Do they like to make models or work with their hands?
- Maintain communication in order to be as prepared as I can for the student. Discuss the next week's subject so I can prepare my own notes.

I had the privilege of having Kristian Stenslie as a student teacher this fall. Kristian's student teaching term was spent at Simle Middle School in Bismarck, North Dakota. He taught 7th grade Life Sciences and a homebase class. He worked with students with a variety of skills, interests, and backgrounds.
Kristian showed commitment to his students, the school, and the curriculum. He was prepared for the lessons and upcoming activities. During his time at Simle Middle School, Kristian participated in parent teacher conferences and various team/curriculum meetings.
Kristian showed enthusiasm while working with the students in the classroom. Students responded to Kristian well and enjoyed having him as a student teacher.Kristian’s approach to teaching is best described as student centered with a focus on constructive learning. As he spent more time in my classroom to complete the practicum experience, it was easy to tell that Kristian cares deeply for the well-being and long term growth/success of the students he works with. He spent time interacting with the students to build positive relationships and to foster a learning environment that made the students feel safe and excited to learn.
Kristian has proven himself to be a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate educator. If the opportunity should arise that you are able to hire him for a teaching position, it is with my highest recommendation that you do. I am honored to have been a part of Kristian’s teaching journey, and I hope that you are fortunate enough to have him be a part of your school and community. If I can be of help in any way, please call me at 701-751- 6502 (school) or 701-678-4239 (cell).View more recommendations
